3herosoft iPhone to Computer Transfer is a backup and recovery tool. It actually supports iPhone, iPod 5g, and iPod nano. However, in order to support iPhone with OS 3.1 or later, iPod 5g FW 1.0, and nano, the application requires iTunes 9.0 to be installed. I was struggling fro some time to get my iPhone detected before I figured that out.
The application allows you to download songs and videos from your iPhone or iPod to a folder on your computer. Additionally, you can kill two birds with one stone and directly add files to iTunes from the iPod, which saves a bit of time. Songs can be selected individually, or you can select a playlist or all the songs on the device. The same goes for video files.
3herosoft iPhone to Computer Transfer does a great job of displaying song and video information on the screen, so that you can find the songs that you want to backup. You get the name, title, size, artist, album, and genre of all your songs. And you can sort the list by any of those parameters. There is a built-in search feature for finding items.
The application can also put files on your iPhone, you can upload songs or complete folders from your computer. It supports batch-mode processing for both uploading and downloading songs from the iPod/iPhone. However, the trial version has a limitation of 99 songs.
It is just a shame that you now have to download iTunes to use this app with iPhone 3.1. I was really looking forward to an iTunes-less backup system for Windows.
